The Fountain show will run February 10th to March 1st.<\/p>\n<p>Opening reception Wednesday February 10th from 6 \u2013 8:00 p.m. 321 Glisan st, 3rd floor, mens bathroom stall, Portland, OR. 97209<\/p>\n<p>Five artist are featured in the show: Nick Patton, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jillfalkart.com\/\">Jill Falk<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.behance.net\/Tm77\">Troy Mathews<\/a>, Alanna Risse, and Caitlin Rooney. Please join these talented artist in celebration on opening night.<br \/>\nFountain.<\/p>\n<p>In 1917, Marcel Duchamp\u2019s porcelain urinal was submitted to the Society of Independent Artist for there show in NYC. With this act, Duchamp changed the direction of art, and challenged the relationship of the artist to labour, and to his\/her artwork.<br \/>\nThe artist were asked What does Duchamp\u2019s Fountain mean to them and their work?<\/p>\n<p>The mission of Stall is to create an exciting, alternative space where artists can exhibit their work. Stall aims to inspire, and foster an appreciation of art\u2019s complex role in a changing world. The Stall gallery asserts that the arts is the highest form of expression and can be appreciated from any position.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About this video<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This piece is dedicated to the Baroness Elsa von Freitag-Loringhoven who I believe was the originator of the famous Duchamp urinal. Elsa used the pseudonym Richard Mutt on some of her works and there is a record of Duchamp writing a letter to his sister regarding how he came about the piece.\u00a0Listen to this man explain why the urinal might have been hers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Message For R.
