It’s going by so fast. One big reason I wanted to take this class was that I’ve been struggling with oils since I started CCA, maybe even before. I think I just got so caught up in worrying about content that I couldn’t enjoy the act of painting anymore. I looked at some Fairfield Porter work last week and it made me realize that content doesn’t add up to a hill of beans if you 1. Don’t like what you are doing and 2. Can’t paint. So These bee paintings are a breath of fresh air. I’ve been starting with photographs but I simplify the colors in them so I can’t get caught up in detail. I want them to stay a little abstract and loose. Next week I’ll start on some more. The three I did this week aren’t 100% done, but the pace of this class is so quick, you just have to keep plowing through. Jee Yan says the last week of class can be spent finalizing paintings that need a little this or that. I’m really enjoying this class. It’s been good for me. Everything is faster pace. We have a critique every week and they move much faster than the usual 3 to 6 hour ciritques of other painting classes. I like fast.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
I’m already done with week two of the painting intensive class I’m taking at CCA. It’s going by so fast.
