I’m excited at dedicating November to writing 30 art-related posts, so I was all fired up to see the Tiffany Bozik show at Fecal Face Gallery in San Francisco. Neither rain nor wind nor laziness could keep me from slapping on my rain hat and skipping down to the bus stop. But sadly, when I arrived at the Fecal Face Gallery, they were closed!!! I should have prepared better, this is, after all, the day after Halloween, and although they were supposed to be open from noon to 6pm, I should have called ahead. I forgive them, I’m sure someone must have a wicked hangover or a cold and I just hope they had fun last night. I’m going to trudge onward with this article anyway, just to build up some inertia. I’ll try again next week to see the work in the flesh.

I had (have) never been to the Fecal Face Gallery before. It’s so cute and tiny! The gallery consists of one room that is about 10’x12′ with a little desk in the back. Tiffany’s works on display were prints on paper and acrylic paintings on panel, all smallish, in the 11″x13″ range with the exception of one larger painting at 32″x45″. All works involve elements of nature, birds, bugs, flowers, mammals. Themes of predator/prey, evolution, natural selection, and species interdependence. You can read more about her work on the fecal face website. The bio on Tiffany’s website mentions she participated in a 1 year residency program at the California Academy of Sciences.

I too am interested in very similar subjects, so seeing and reading about her work gets me all fired up. I’ll write more about that next week after seeing her show in the flesh and getting to spend some quality time with it.

Symmetrical Balance: Tiffany Bozic
Running: Oct 25 – Nov 16, 2008
Fecal Face Gallery
66 Gough St at Market
San Francisco, CA
Thurs & Fri (4-8pm) Sat & Sun (12-6pm)

More links to Bozik’s work:
â?¢ Anno Domini: Heartswork by Tiffany Bozic, Chris Duncan and Paul Urich
â?¢ SF Gate Article: John Trippe’s five favorites
â?¢ The Flog: Tiffany Bozik at the BLK/MRKT Gallery

I’ve self proclaimed November “National Art-Related Article Writing Month” in honor of NaNoWriMo.
