<\/p>\nNumber 41 is an exceptional apple. And so before eating it, I asked it to come to Portland with me and be my personal slave. If you know what I mean. I shall grow to love this apple as if it were my own son. But then he’ll learn that his mother and sister are alive but they have leprosy and that’ll make him real mad. And 41 shall seek revenge on those bad apples who have wronged him… Wait, what am I talking about? Oh I don’t know. Just being silly. Hmmm, wonder what an all-apple cast version of Ben Hur would look like. Would Jesus be a Golden Delicious?<\/p>\n

So…. we’re moving to Portland, Oregon! We’ve known this for some time but we had to keep it all secret-like until things were ironed out. Tom told his work yesterday, so the cat is finally out of the bag. I feel more free now, and also a little more nervous and jittery about the move. Every little thing I do and think of, reminds me that I’m leaving this place that I know so well, my home. I’m excited for new adventures but it’s going to sting a little to leave this place. When I try to imagine my new home, I can smell the dirt. I can feel the wet ground and I can run my fingers through the flowers.<\/p>\n
Finally, we’ll be free of our little apartment and can have a house with a garden. I can’t tell how happy this makes me. It’s going to be strange to live in a quiet place. We don’t be able to hear our neighbors anymore. We won’t smell their cooking, or bring in there packages from the entryway. I think I’m going to miss that a little. I like our neighbors, we have a great building. What I won’t miss are angry punks vandalizing our car, hippy puppy poo, the smell of drunk’s urine, angry, crowded buses. An hour-long commute just to get 5 miles from home. Maybe they have some of this in Portland too, but I bet it’s a lot less. San Francisco, I love you and I hate you and it’s time for a change.<\/p>\n
There are tons of apples up there… tons, they grow from the trees up there like…. apples. Apples are the new oranges.<\/p>\n
