Here I am, first day of school with all the teenagers!<\/p>\n

I figured out I have a prejudice against anyone who is under the age of 25. I suppose that’s reverse agism. Good thing I’m taking Cultural Anthropology. Maybe I can change my agist ways this semester.<\/p>\n

It turns out I really lucked out this semester with teachers. It appears that all four of my teachers are going to be great. Phew! City College can be somewhat of a crap shoot. San Francisco is a great city so I think generally speaking we get some fine teachers, but every once in a while, I come across one that bores me to tears or drives me insane. Many of the teachers start out pretty interesting and then turn into bitter, old hags or… what’s the male equivalent of a hag?

I’ve been a busy little beaver today, writing away. I have to turn in 175 pages, give or take, by August 31st and it’s been a little intimidating. I have been allowing myself to stoop to new lows of self doubt. But today, I really got in the groove and churned out some good stuff on one of the more headier subjects in the book, and one I’ve been afraid to tackle. Turns out my fear was worse than reality. So today you could say I learned that it isn’t always reality that bites. Hmmm, might be this week’s “finder’s keepers” themed illustration.<\/p>\n

OK one more thing before I get back to work. This “finders keepers<\/a>” project just keeps getting cooler as new ideas are exposed. I have had a fear that I wouldn’t be able to find a cool enough topic by Friday to draw about but it turns out, I’m starting to find them all over the place. These ideas are like little winged presents that flitter around in the air until I see them and am ready to snatch them up. Just the act of looking for them has willed them into existence.
