When she awakes, she half barks every second or two as if she&#8217;s calling out in distress to make sure we are there. We call back to her &#8220;It&#8217;s ok Mississippi, you are ok.&#8221; She&#8217;ll then usually curl up and go back to sleep.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re starting to think she can understand a great deal of what we say. This morning Tom said to her as he was leaving the bedroom to take her for a walk &#8220;ok, let&#8217;s go, pick up your kong.&#8221; Mississippi perked up, grabbed her kong and walked out the the living room to get ready for her walk. She definitely understands &#8220;Roxy&#8217;s&#8221; now and she will walk to the car all by herself and wait at the car door.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mississippi has nightmares quite often.
