This is an update on my post about theft of identity<\/a> with Pac Bell and a nasty little collection agency called American Agencies.<\/p>\n

So I found out American Agencies and Pac Bell have had some problems<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I called SBC back today. Last week they asked me to call back to give them an address to send this “theft of identity – not responsible letter”. The first person just automatically forwarded me to another credit agency as soon as I used the word Fraud in a sentance. So I did a run around with the agency until we both realized that I was mistakenly forwarded. Let me just note that after my yelling match with the credit agency last week, I decided no matter how much people try to rattle me, I’m going to remain calm and form logical sentances. So when I got on the phone with SBC for the second time, and said “Please don’t forward me, let me explain why I’m calling” She hung up on me! So I called back a third time and calmly explained again. The woman finally listened to me and verified that yes I have a “not responsible letter” ready for me, she took down my address. I started to ask about how to deal with this American Agencies collection agency and she said SBC was going to buy back the debt so I wouldn’t have to deal with American Agencies anymore.<\/p>\n

The guy last week at American Agencies told me “check your credit report, this deliquent account is on there” I said, no actually it’s not, in 2004 I ran a credit report and there was absolutely nothing on it, and there shouldn’t have been because I explained to you that this problem was cleared up in February of 2001. He said “Well, then I’ll put it on your credit report right now.” That was the point that I lost my cool, as you can well imagine. Anyway, I don’t believe this issue is over yet but I’m hoping for the best.<\/p>\n
