I will be sharing a very large and wonderful space with a metal sculptor and an acrylic painter. I’m so giddy. I have to control myself because I have so much to do this week and can’t start painting again just yet. I start paying rent on the 15th and will probably take the afternoon off to move my studio over. But I won’t have time til this weekend or next week to actually start painting. I just got an email from Larry (of Oakdale) and I’m choked up about leaving Oakdale painting studio. He has been such an incredible teacher and friend. I’ll still see him, I’m only moving down the street, but I’m still loosing the community by not being around. Hell, with the very little time I’ve gotten to spend in the studio this year, I think I already lost it in a way. So it’s a mixed blessing, a mostly fantastically fabulous one, but a melancholy one as well. There are a couple of ex-Oakdalers at Yosemite though, so I’ll be in good company. This leads me to an annoucement of available studio space!

Shared Painting Studio available in San Francisco $140/mo
The Oakdale Painting studio is located on Oakdale near Bayshore in San Francisco. The space is a large, shared room. There are classes there twice a week, other than that, you have 24 hour access to the studio. The renters (about 10 of us) share the large room and paint together. There’s rarely more than 3 or 4 of us there at one time so there’s lots of room to spread out. It’s a great community and we often give each other feedback about our work. You share a very large painting rack with everyone and are given space to store your paints. I keep my stuff on my own rolling cart. The one drawback is that there isn’t much storage space so you can’t keep extra paintings or a huge amount of supplies there. It’s a fantastic first stuio, I can’t think of a better place to experience studio painting and you’ll get to paint with great people. There’s a decent kitchen setup with microwave, coffee maker, tea kettle and a small fridge. There are easels you can use and a stereo system to play music. The building is heated and has good cross-ventilation. Rent is $140 a month. If you are interested, contact Larry Robinson. You’ll find his email address on the website.

Yes, it’s official, I will be moving out of Oakdale Studios into Yosemite Studios off 3rd and Yosemite.
