Saturday was an all day “getting to know you” fest at a beautiful property in Oregon city. Today was the first official day of the 8 week summer session. I went to bed around 11 last night and woke up to a pee covered toddler at 5am. She went back to sleep but I couldn’t, so I headed out to school at 6am. I got my studio pretty much in order and headed to a 3 hour school orientation, picked up paper towels and snacks on my lunch hour, then had a 3.5 hour contemporary art seminar. By 5 I was delirious. I then biked 3 miles uphill to junipers daycare to pick her up. Twelve hours of intensity. Tomorrow I have a presentation i need to prepare for, a print lab orientation, a 3.5 hour crit in the afternoon, and readings and notes to take for Wednesday. And I do juni’s daycare drop off and pick ups tomorrow. <\/p>\n
I love the group of people in my program. It’s a really great group of people and I foresee long friendships forming with several people in the group even at this early stage. I feel like we’re going to rock the universe. I feel honored to keep such great company.<\/p>\n
I can tell that being a local has many benefits and draw backs. Everyone else, with the accepting of one person, is here from far away and is totally dedicated for these 8 weeks. I have to go home and be a mom. In some ways it’ll be nice to juggle two personas. In other ways it means I’m spreading myself way too thin in these 8 weeks. Still I think the benefits out way the draw backs. But man, this is gonna hurt.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
