This weekend marked the third weekend at Leland Ironworks for my October residency. AS expected, time is going by too fast. And because Halloween is on a Saturday, next weekend will be my last full weekend there. It’s been a funny time. I’ve felt the pressure to perform, for no one but myself, for the purpose of trying to prove to myself that I am some genius artist who only generates fabulous art and never makes anything flat or boring. As you can guess, that’s not working out for me so well. I’ve possibly made nothing but flat and boring work, but it still felt good to make it. So I’m trying to let go.<\/p>\n

I’ve spent much of my residency trying to get in communication with myself. I’ve been reading books and having as much quiet time as I can stand. Sunday I completely gave up on making art and spent the day reading a book — the whole book.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
