magic shoes

I got a new pair of shoes today for my trek. THey seem pretty magical. I walked to 18th and Irving from our house near stanyan and the panhandle. It’s a little over three miles there and back. No problemo, I feel invincible. I also got a backpack. the Da Kine bag that we’ve had for years is finally falling apart. It’s too bad because it’s the best backpack I’ve ever had. The new one is pretty snazzy too though. It’s got a chest strap as well as a hip strap so I can take the load off my shoulders. The bag is proving itself useful today because I’ve been lugging my laptop around. It has a little laptop compartment in the back. The last few days I’ve been a bit nervous about the whole walking 75 miles in the bright sun aspect of this walk, but now that I have sporty stuff, I’m feeling very confident. Last night I walked downtown, about 4 miles, and it didn’t even phase me. I am thinking about doing a long hike tomorrow morning to really try out the shoes.
