Mission Dolores

Mission Dolores was founded in 1776 and was a failure from the get-go. Measles epidemics and cold, order foggy weather weakened the padres chances at building their minions. Most Indians figured out pretty quickly that Christianity sucked and fled across the bay to frolic in the warmer climate and among their fun-loving brethren of the east bay. Prompting the first time, unhealthy but certainly not the last time a Christian proclaimed â??damn San Francisco heathens!â? And the Indians replied: â??We donâ??t want your crappy, cold damp Christianity, weâ??re going over to the East Bay where the water is fine and the sun shines all the time, even when itâ??s raining.â? Still the padres hobbled along, year after year. It took one year to christen the first Indian. And things were slow but steady from then on, or at least until the gold rush hit. The original mission building still stands and is the oldest building in San Francisco. Itâ??s purdy.
