Carnivorous Flowers

We went to California Carnivores in Sebastapol on our way back from the Ken and Amy vow renewal thing. That place is really amazing. We ended up buying a couple plants and they feel like new family members. You should go there if you ever get the chance. The guy who sold us the plants spoke in soft, gentle tones, like he was trying to keep our plants calm. We like him.

Today I am imagining that these flowers (Trumpet flowers?) are my classes. I am a big juicy fly. They are beconing me to come in, but I am afraid. I am both drawn to their beauty and sweet aroma while at the same time, fearful of what might happen to me if I give in. My wings are tired and their nectar is intoxicating me.

Well, ok not really. I just don’t want to go to class this week. I am in need of a break so I’m trying to squeeze one into my schedule. Paper due today. Poem due today. Paper due Thursday, lots of heady readings, haven’t touched paint since last Wednesday, need to build more canvases. Things piling up, can’t breathe, too lazy, must fight back. Must get back on the horse or it will trample me.
