Spring break woo hoo!

Yeah! Cabo! Yeehaw! Ok well, not cabo, just calistoga for a couple days,
then back to work. But at least it’s work with unstructured time and no
deadlines for a week. That sounds delicious.

I went to a Chris Johansen lecture this week at cca. I am findng many of
the thing he said is having lasting effects on me. So yes, it was a good
lecture, despite despite despite, and there were so many despites in
this lecture. But chris was so refreshing. He made me feel like my goals
are attainable. he made me feel like a peer, and not like this art world
thing is so separate from me. He reminded me that life is about fun and
that being nice is always the best policy. And as artists, we get to
make our own rules. Which is such an awesome concept to me, on so many
levels, coming from corporate america where there are constantly rules
and expectations. The art world has these limitations too, but they are
maybe easier to break through. Chris was also born in san jose like me,
and was born two years before me. He lived in san francisco in his 20s
and lives in portland now. He talked about mellowing with age and
getting used to new stages in life and that made me feel that even
though I feel isolated from my old friends at times, I am part of a
larger organism and that as I go through life, I will encounter people
with similar experiences and values as me, and how fun it is to meet new
friends. Anyway, I don’t know if I’m making much sense, babbling away on
my tiny sidekick. So I will leave you for now. Happy spring break!
