We broke one of our most sacred travel rules last night. The evening
started out very lovely. We had mai tais and birthday dinner at the Fish
Hopper in Kona then we had a drink at the Kona Inn and sat by the beach
for a bit. Then we ran into our friend Dave from the little bar we
frequent in Hilo. He was travelling alone and we teamed up. Two bars,
two karaoke songs, and too many drinks later, we stumbled home, drunk as
skunks. The rule we broke? Beware all brown liquor. This includes dark
rum, especially when it is paired with sugary juices. Beware all brown
liquor. It’s been a bad day, a very bad day. We had to drive all the way
home from Kona sick as dogs and hating life. We’re staying in tonight.
Maybe I’ll go to Blockbuster if I can handle the outing. Beware all
brown liquor. One rule that should never be broken, no matter the
circustances, flaming tiki torches, birthdays, sunsets, late night walks
on beaches, all these things are not enhanced by mai tais.
Don't make the rules if you're gonna break them
