Here is a start for my next painting. It’s just a rough. The dragon is a
self portrait based off the swallows around here plus rick the dog, and
bats and dragon flies. The mountains represent the berges rock, and
various places I’ve hiked around, plus some fantasy castles thrown in
for good measure.
This place is so old, you can’t help but make up your own historical
fantasies about castles and villages. This canvas is very long. I’ve
never worked on a long canvas like this before. I seemed to have lost
all inhibitions about format, subject matter, and thickness of paint.
Today we go to minervois and one of the oldest remaining cathar ruins
where lots of people were burned and lots of buildings smashed by
trebuchets. I’ll try to get some good shots for you.
