Apple #29 was a Cameo and it became the topping of a very delicious fruity pizza. We had pizza night on Saturday and one of the pizzas we made was Apple, prostate carmelized onions, and blueberries. In retrospect, I think it needed some goat cheese. But it was still really good.
Make your own pizza:
Dough Ingredients:
1 1/3 cup warm water
2 1/4 teaspoons yeast
1 Tbsp sugar
Combine water sugar and yeast in a large, non-metal bowl. Wait about 5 minutes until the yeast starts to froth. Then add:
3 cups white flour
1/2 cup wheat flour
2 Tbsp olive oil
1 Tbsp salt
Combine in the bowl until it comes together. Lightly flour a large work area and kneed the dough for 7-10 minutes until smooth. Tuck the dough under so it forms a nice, smooth ball. Oil a large non-metal bowl with oliv oil and roll the dough around in the oil and let sit, pretty side up, in the bowl, covered with saran wrap for about 1 1/2 hours until at least doubled in side. Cut the dough into four pieces. Try to retain the dough shape as much as possible. Form pizza shapes by pressing and stretching. Each pizza will be about 10-12″ across. Top with marinara sauce, grated mozarella cheese, thinly sliced apples, carmelized onions, and blueberries. Bake on a pizza stone in a very well preheated 450° oven. Cook until nice and brown.
Apple number 30 was a Golden Delicious I ate at my desk this morning. It was sweet and delicious. I followed it up with some delicious dried prunes.
