apples 57 and 58, and packing up

I head back to SF tomorrow morning. Today I am getting some work done, doing some laundry, and taking some extra stuff to the storage place I rented. I leave early tomorrow and then have to stop off along the way for a conference call. That should be fun. I’ve been scouting out all the Starbucks and internet cafes in Eugene. Might end up being a nice, relaxing stop. Too bad it couldn’t have been later in the day, Eugene is only a couple hours from here. I could have turned it into a well deserved break from driving 12+ hours.

Is it possible to be homesick for a house you don’t live in yet? It think I am. But my homesickness is a combination of wishing Tom was with me, and wishing our bed was with me. I just had a flashback of watching the Monkees and wishing I had a car/bed. I guess that’s what I’m homesick for, a portable version of our bed. The bed here is comfortable but it’s kind of small and the basement is cold, cold, cold. I’m excited to get back to SF and pack all our things up to take to our new house. Wonder how long we’ll have to go without our bed when the movers take our stuff. Someone threatened it would take 6-8 weeks, but that’s no possible, right? That’s too long. Way too long. DB said when they moved up here it was just about a week, I can do that. We have a fireplace in the new house, we’ll survive. 馃檪

Last night we had a wonderful dinner with Ingrid and Jon and Dick. She made corned beef and cabbage and baked about the best apple pie I’ve ever tasted. That was apple number 58. I had a Pinova apple earlier yesterday as a mid-day snack, that was apple #57. I think I’m done with my work for the day. Time to make the bed, clean the room, and take some things to storage. Wish I could have had time for more fun up here. I have many old friends I was looking forward to seeing. But I’ll be right back! And then we’ll have a proper reunion with spaghetti and meatballs at our new house!
