lobster in red

Today I did a still life study in red. Thursday will be blue. I love pastels so much that if I were given a pile of poo to draw, I’d happily draw it. Luckily for me, I get to draw fun things like plastic lobsters. They don’t smell as bad. As I was drawing this, I said “My lobster is telling me to put my head down on that plate so it can eat me.” My teacher said “Well, then I’m afraid I can’t help you. Sounds like you’ve got bigger problems that drawing issues.” Tee hee. But you know what, she came over and looked at my drawing, and the lobster was saying the very same thing to her.

I watched Charlie Rose today and cried over my grilled ham and cheese sandwich. Joan Didion was on the show, talking about her book The Year Of Magical Thinking. It’s about her marriage, and dealing with grief and death. It’s hard to get started on writing after seeing that show. Four more days, then I will give myself the weekend off.
