The sea as a gift giver

I was introduced to Bruno Munari last week through a blog entry on Keri Smith’s website. I was so curious, I ordered a book called The Sea As A Craftsman. It is very tiny yet very mighty. I am so in love with this little book. I want to spend an afternoon just sitting with it and digesting it. I thumbed to a page and read this:

Usually craftsmen show off their merchandise by photographing it in an appealing way and publishing pages of advertising in specialist magazines. This way people are informed of new items and they buy the objects produced, complete with the name of the designer.

The sea on the other hand does not present its stuff in specialist magazines but “chucks” it onto the beaches, even when there is no public, even when it snows, wherever, at random.

I am so sorry I can’t do Finders Keepers today. I’m bursting inside. I understand how important it is to me to keep doing this. There are many lessons for me to learn and many adventures to come.
