Happy Birthday To Me

We had a very lovely birthday weekend. Starting on Friday with some fun adventures on Mississippi Ave. We got fries at Bar Bar and ice cream at Lovely’s 50/50. Saturday morning we put Mississippi in daycare for the night and headed to the Fruit Loop in Hood River for some fruit fun. It was the weekend of the pear festival so everyone had lots and lots of pears. We got to taste a bunch of different kinds and we bought some fresh apple cider to make hard cider out of. We saw baby alpacas and baby goats. We had a great lunch at a Mexican plate place then went to a cool playground. Juni then passed out so we drove home.

Today we had a crazy delicious breakfast at Podnah’s then went for a short hike in Forest Park. We had one of my favorites for dinner, coconut rice and mango, marinated tofu, and cucumber salad. Tom got a couple little cakes from Tula Gluten-free bakery and we had cake and ice cream. I got the new Julia Child bio by Bob Spitz and a great new recipe book full of sauces and pickles. So tonight I made three jars of dilly beans to enjoy with my bloody marys. Juni took a nap on me this afternoon in the chair and that was really nice. I was nice to be able to enjoy it instead of feeling like I needed to be getting things done.

It’s been a good weekend. I got phone calls from Bradley, Heather and Peggy. Bradley says he still considers me to be 19. I hope he meant in a good way :). I can’t believe the weekend is over. I wish it could go on longer. What a nice time we’ve had. Now, if Juni would just go to sleep…
