We celebrated an early Valentine’s Day yesterday by going to Le Colonial. The food was so damn good, I thought maybe I should sue them. We started with a delicious chopped vegetable and fruit salad with lots of star fruit, my favorite aesthetically pleasing fruit, and some fall-off-the-bone pork ribs. Dinner was Prawns with eggplant and the most tender and delicious pork tenderloin I’ve ever had on a bed of broken rice. This broken rice stuff, it’s good, so good. It’s a very aromatic rice that has been smashed up into nearly couscous sized morsels. Dessert was melt-in-your-mouth carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and warm butterscotch sauce, I know, I’m killing you, and some Bonny Doon vin de Glaciere dessert wine.
After dinner we stepped across the street to Bobby C’s Owl Tree and enjoyed a few cocktails with Bobby hiumself and his dog Chester.
It was a very lovely night and one to remind us what a great place San Francisco is to live in. My boyfriend is dreamy.
