Ready, Set, Go!

It’s almost here. My Low Residency Visual Studies MFA program at PNCA starts this Saturday. I get the keys to the studio this Friday. I’ve been so busy getting things in order, you’d think I was going away on a long trip. I’ll be at the school countless hours a week for the next eight weeks. I’ve been busy searching for daycare, both for Juniper and the dog. I’ve stocked up on Juniper’s Almond milk, filled the dog food bin, dyed my hair, got a bike lock for the trailer, bought ink for the free printer I found, gathered my art supplies, bought a coffee thermos, sent my long belated thank you letters, put my gym membership on hold, deferred my student loans, and a million other tiny tasks. This shit is just about ready to set sail.

I’ve also been clearing my head the last few days. I’ve been so wrapped up in trying to find time to continue my work on the latest series, but I’m allowing myself to step back. I got sick and lost studio time so I’m calling it a sign from my guardian animal to just take a deep breath in. Who knows what we’ll be working on for the next eight weeks and I should be ready for anything. Who knows what I’ll end up working on other the next couple years. I’m embracing the open endedness right now. I feel full of potential and it feels good.

I’m hoping I can squeak in a few posts during school. I really want to document this experience. It’s been hard getting time at the computer to write. Even as we speak I’m stealing a few minutes of time before I pick up Juniper from school a little on the late side. I’d love some time to just look at artists online, think and write, write and think. We shall see. I may be knee deep in critical theory text.

Here we go! Charge!
