I am hoping it does. I would love to stop taking my thyroid meds within the year if I see improvements in my numbers. I’ve been looking for medical articles about the subject. Couldn’t find much on the general internet but here is what I’ve found so far:
This article discusses a study which found that those on a vegan diet had less instances of hypothyroidism than those on an omnivorous diet. http://www.pcrm.org/health/medNews/vegan-diets-improve-thyroid-function
This article discusses the reduction of gluten in the diet because inflammation is associated with decreased thyroid function. A vegan diet is also purported to decrease inflammation (see this forks over knives article). http://drhyman.com/blog/2010/05/20/a-7-step-plan-to-boost-your-low-thyroid-and-metabolis/
