pie!

walnut pie

I found out from Todd Lapin that there was a new pie place in the mission. I’m a really big fan of pie so this information got me pretty worked up. Last night we had a party to attend in the mission so I took the opportunity to visit this pie place. I called them twice on the way over. First to ask when they close (10p.m.) and second to find out there exact location. They are on 25th, just one building away from Mission Street. When we finally arrived after enduring two buses and the bitter cold, we were warmly greeted. Then the man behind the counter said “We are out of pie.”

Nooooooooooooo! It can’t be!!!! I nearly dropped dead. But no fear, more pie, fresh out of the over pie, was on it’s way. We walked to a nearby restaurant and had a beer while waiting for the nice man to give me a “pie courtesy call.” We bought a warm walnut pie and took it to the party. It was good… really good. They have a mean looking apple pie too. The place is simple and straight to the point. They do walnut, apple, and pumpkin pies. They have coffee and tea and friendly service. The pie crust is perfect. I’m hooked.

The party was great fun and today we’ve been laying around, reading, watching nature shows, and rehydrating. Tomorrow I attempt to complete the quilt. We shall see if I make it. I hit a little snag, the sheet I had bought for the underside wasn’t big enough, so I had to quilt the underside too. It’s just a simple square pattern so it didn’t add too much work, but still, yeah, more time.
