Alanna's Secret Cranberry Sauce

1 bag fresh cranberries
1 cup orange juice
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup dried cherries or cranberries
1/8 tsp freshly grated ginger or 1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/8 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp freshly grated nutmeg

Rinse the cranberries and remove any berries that are wilted or not so fresh looking. Add cranberries, orange juice, sugar, dried fruit, and spices to a saucepan. bring to a boil and lower heat to a slow simmer. Once about half of the cranberries have popped, remove from heat and let cool. Don’t worry, when the cranberries are hot, they will look really soupy, they will thicken as they cool. Once cranberries reach room temperature, place them in a covered dish and refridgerate until it’s time to eat them!
