Red Delicious – 1, True Beauty tv show – 0
Apple number 6 was a red delicious that I ate at my desk at the end of the day. I’m not really a fan of the red delicious. They are all about the bright red package but when it comes to their insides, they tend to lack character. Seems most of the red delicious I’ve had are too sweet and mealy on the inside and are tough and bitter on the outside. I prefer the mixed variety, not quite green, not quite red, like Fujis or Honey Crisps, they are tart, but no overly tart like the Granny Smiths. But, if I’m going to eat 365 apples in a year, I better start diversifying. This particular Red Delicious was… quite delicious actually. I think I’ve just been picking my red apples the wrong way. As with all good produce, it’s all about freshness. I bought this particular red delicious at the R & J market by work. They tend to have pretty good produce despite the limited selection.
Tonight I am taking control of the remote and am going to watch the terrible tv show: True Beauty. It’s a reality tv show/beauty contest where the contestants are being judged on their inner beauty without knowing it. I doubt I’ll find any freshness in this show but I’ve been dying to see it anyway. I think it’s safe to say today’s beauty contest winner is my Red Delicious.
