apples 49 and 50

Guess what? All my computer problems are resolved and I am now able to work anywhere I can find internet access. All I need is my laptop and my tiny external drive. It’s a pretty empowering feeling. I’m now scrambling to get as much work done as I can before I leave so I don’t spend all my time in Portland working. I’m hoping to do some half days while I house hunt. I’ve been so busy-idle lately, uninstalling, reinstalling and restarting my computer for a week straight. I thought I was going to scratch my own eyes out. But now, all that patience and tenacity paid off. Working from my laptop is so much better than that old IBM box. It’s dreamy to work now. Things are still slow, but they are Mac-beautiful now. And honestly, I might be just feeling extra optimistic but I think my setup is faster in some aspects. It’s definitely slower in other aspects so I guess it all evens out.

I ate apple 49 yesterday just as I was getting the last bits of trouble resolved. I left work a little early and went bowling with Heather at Sea bowl in Pacifica, then headed to Denney’s for some greasy-salty food. Today’s triumphant apple was eaten as I copied my hard work to another back up drive while simultaneously swiping new music ff my bosses external drive. I filled out his collect too while I was at it. How can you have Led Zeppelin III but not have I and II? That’s just ludicrous.

So, 50 apples so far! How about them apples?

This weekend is Valentine’s day. We usually go out the night before or after, because then we get to eat wherever we want, and we’re kind of picky about that stuff. Saturday night my friend Joe Ledbetter is playing at Cafe Du Nord at 8:30 and I’m hoping to see some friends before I head off to Portland. I suppose I’ll be happy if everyone has a Valentine-y thing to do, but I still sure hope some peeps can come out. Tom is threatening to work that night, but I know he won’t really, he just has to believe that he’ll have to work, then that makes him work harder leading up to V-day.
