Job interview #1: small friendly company. Employees seem genuinely happy to work there. Manager is excited about my experience and makes me feel smart and useful. Company values are fantastic. Seems like I would feel right at home there. Loud music, interoffice banter, laughter, and smiling faces, beer on fridays. Cute office in a great neighborhoody part of sf. Good benefits, decent pay, fun and exciting projects and new technologies.

Job interview #2: Very large company in the financial district. Fancy lobby, then rows and rows of identical cubicles. They have a color consultant for how to paint the walls. Exciting products with potential. Interviewers seem genuinely put out that they have to interview me. They make me feel stupid and out of place. They bark acronyms at me and are aggrevated I don’t know what they are. Many of the interviewers seem unhappy and disgruntled. Great pay, unbelievably good benefits, opportunity to work remotely.

Which do you choose? I’d choose option #1 without batting an eyelash.
