We spent a few hours at Kaiser today giving the nice doctors Tom’s blood and pee and wrapping blow-up contraptions around him arm and listening to him breath. We learned a little more about what to expect for Tom’s surgery next week. He’s going to have a metal plate in his arm for the rest of his life so he can deflect bullets and stuff just like a real superhero. Nothing too exciting other than that. I’m nervous but I think he’ll be ok. He was a little sad to find out that yes, it’s going to take about as long to heal as the first time around. Tom and casts don’t get along. Hopefully he won’t have a full arm cast this time though. Life is rough when you can’t bend your elbo.
We went to Zachary’s pizza for a post-doctor late lunch and I ran into an old friend. Someone I haven’t seen in probably 12 years, and I think he was about 18 when I knew him so I didn’t even recognize him. crazy, guess he’s been in oakland for about 8 years now.
It was just easier spending the whole day with Tom so I’ve been surfing the web and getting into all sorts of virtual trouble. I need to make stuff from these patterns: Fitz Patterns dot com. Free downloadable sewing patterns? I’m all over that shit!
