We spent two days driving around the island. Last night we had dinner at
the fish hoper in kona and today we went snorkeling. It was tom’s first
time and he loved it. We went out twice for a very long time each time.
We slathered layers and layers of waterproff sunscreen on but tom still
got cooked like a lobster. He wouldn’t let me take the coppertone pic of
the puppy pulling down his underwear so this pic of rainbow papaya will
have to do. He’s gonna hurt tomorrow.
Me, I am very afraid of the sun, with good reason. So I kept my shirt
on all day. I still managed to get a stripe across my lower back where
my shirt kept riding up, and my buns are pink, but I’m ok. My real
injury occured later on in the day when we 4 wheel drove over what was
described as a drive across a grassy plain. In reality, it was a crazy
ass drive across lava rock covered, steep hills. I actually injured my
shoulder trying to get us through some hairy shit. All of that aside, we
had the best two days ever. We’re glad to be back in our little
apartment but look forward to a speedy recovery and a second go at
snorkeling. From now on, tom is required to wear a shirt when face down
in the water.
