Lots and lots of textile fun going on around here. i took this great online class through Lisa Solomon and Katrina Rodabaugh call Interwoven. Each week we tried a new technique. We covered crochet, soft sculpture, embroidery and quilting. It was super fun but I started more projects on top of the existing projects I’ll never finish. Never is a strong word. I’ll finish most of them by the time I’m dead… I hope.
The class, and that fact that grad school starts in just 3 months, spawned a bunch of other projects. I tend to sew when I’m not painting. It’s what my hands like to do when my head is spinning. So lots of nesting going on around here in the form of sewing. I’ve been using up all the upholstery fabric samples books I should have never bought at Scrap. Now that I’m getting so much great use out of them, I’m so tempted to buy more. But no!!!! NO NO NO NO NO! No more fabric. It’s getting crazy up in here with the fabric situation. Need to sew some skirts out of all the vintage polyester I’ve collected as well. I have a fabric problem.
A mobile with bee skep and bees
a clouds and rain mobile. I decided I wanted a bunch of these hanging from the ceiling so I have a bag of rain and clouds now that need to get strung together.
The beginnings of a crossstich that may never be completed.
I like this little thing. I was just trying different stitches and just started forming this amorphous blob. I’d like to do some alphabet embroidery pieces for Juniper before she’s old enough for college. Might be smarter to do some algebra ones. That way she won’t grow out of them. Hmmm, not a bad idea actually…
A placemat from upcycled flannel shirts. I just got to use the word “upcycled” in a sentance, my day is complete.
This is Tom and my honeymoon quilt. I started it on our honeymoon hoping I’d have it done by our first wedding anniversary. It’s nearing our 5th wedding anniversary (August). Think I’ll make it in time?
We got some new furniture and decided to move our old, nasty but comfortable couch downstairs. We have a lot of dirty throw pillows. I decided to cover some of them.
