It’s been good for me to get a little alone time during this cat sitting. But I spent the whole weekend with Tom and as he was packing his bag to leave this evening, my heart ached. He really is the most amazing company. I feel so happy around him. He’s a generally sunny guy and it’s hard to be sad when he’s around. But it’s time to churn out some work! I have a few pages due this week and I’m feeling a little nervous about handing my first project in to my writing teacher. I’ve taken a break from school this whole weekend long and I’m not feeling like jumping back in so soon.
We looked at wedding sites this weekend. Two happened to be Julia Morgan buildings. I’m a big fan of her work. She was the architect for the Hearst castle, Asilomar, and many other wonderful places. We made a decision about our wedding site and are going with the very first place we looked at. It feels so much more real now knowing where and when it’ll be. I got a little giddy about it and wanted to run out and buy more wedding magazines, instead I did some gift registering! What fun! I was so afraid that just finding the right place within our small budget would be complicated, but it turns out it was just a lot of fun. So hurray!
We’ve been having great fun hanging out in the east bay. We had a friend over for dinner last night and had a hoot and a half. This morning we walked to Jack London Square, then went to see the Chapel of the Chimes, another Julia Morgan building. A leisurely drive around the cemetery was followed by a quick grocery shop, then home for a swim, some time in the sauna and a nice steak dinner. This is the life. It feels like summer over here. The constant fog in San Francisco makes it hard to imagine it’s summer time. OK, time for bed, then a long walk to school in the morning. Hard work and dedication, that’s me in a nutshell… starting tomorrow.
