Last night we celebrated the official exhistence of my book. The contract is finally signed. I am officially an author. Hurray!!!!!
We went to Le Metro Bistro on Divisadero and Page. We’d been wanting to try it out for a long time. The restaurant is cozy and nice. The service was very excellent, our wine glasses were kept filled and everyone was very attentive. Our waiter was very nice.
The wine list was on the small side but very eclectic, with some fun choices you don’t see very often in most restaurants. We had a bottle of malbec from Arentina, can’t remember the winery. As an appetizer we had asparagus in a delicious creamy red bell pepper sauce and mozarella cheese. The red pepper sauce was so good, I scooped it all up with bread, I couldn’t stand to see even a drop of it wasted. For dinner I had a braised pork chop in white wine and mustard sauce with brussel sprouts and red potatoes with shitakes and onions. It was delicious. I ate every last bit of it. The sauce was very tasty and the pork was chewy but flavorful. My only complaint was that it would have been easier to eat with a steak knife. Tom has a salmon bouillabaisse with clams ande mussels. I didn’t taste it, I was too busy with my own dish, but Tom appeared to be having a good time with it.
We followed dinner with too glasses of port and a chocolate raspberry tart. Very rich, very delicious. Everything for the both of us came out to about $100 but you could easily get out of there for half that if you cut back on the booze. Diners ranged from $12 – $18 and they have a prix fixed menu for $16 which is the chef’s choice plus soup or salad and a dessert. They have some great specials and the prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere is casual and it’s a great place to bring visitors from out of town. They appeared to have garden seating outside but it was not open last night. They may only use it for brunches.
For a mid priced restaurant, I give it a 9 out of 10.
