SF International Film Festival Movie review:
Lili and the Baobab
Lili and the Baobab is a charming movie about friendship, family and purpose. The main character in the movie travels back and forth between a small village in Senegal and her hometown of Normandy. She encounters a warm and wonderful culture and makes a lifelong friendship. This movie is about how the form of family can take many shapes, some surprizing and wonderful. Beautiful footage of Normandy and the dessert of Senegal. The movie is slow paced and very quiet so don’t bother to see it if you have ants in your pants. It’s a wonderful movie worth a watch, especially if you are interested in peaking into the daily life of other cultures. The actor who plays Lili is a delight to watch. She lights up the screen with her charming personality. This is the director’s feature film debut and I think she’s got a bright future ahead of her.
