Saturdays are the big market days in carcassone. The square is teaming
with delicious cheeses, salamis, breads, olives, vegetables, fruits,
spices and much more. I don’t know how much we spent but we circled
around a couple times and got all sorts of goodies. Seems my french
breaks down under pressure so I did a lot of pointing and smiling.
Whatever works.
This afternoon I’m working on an underwater scene inspired by some crazy
illustrations in my bug books. The work I’m doing is tedious, intricate
and cartooney. I had a moment today where I thought, what the hell am I
doing working so small. Then I took a breath and decided, its so nice to
have the time to sit and doodle. I hope I reach a resolution I’m happy
with, but the important thing is to endulge myself by doing this more
intricate work on paper. Its hard for me to sit and quietly work like I
can here. That’s worth everything to me right now.
Tom is so completely happy with his vacation. He is reading every book
on the property, taking lots of naps, and eating amazing food. He claims
this is the best vacation ever. I think I second that motion.
