• A mighty wind

I just got the PDF proofs for my book. I added up the pages and I somehow managed to write a 695 page book?!?!?! Wowzers. That’s nuts. I’m nuts. I think it looks pretty good. I’m proud of myself. Gee, I wrote a book, how strange is that? It goes to print on Monday! Yikes!

  • Application filed

I did it, I applied for CCA today. I wrote a pretty terrible essay. I needed to write a 1-2 page essay on why they should let me go there. I wrote some stuff. I’m not proud of it but it’s done. I’m moving on. I also ordered my transcripts to be sent there and…

  • Coffee is for closers

Guess what, I earned my coffee yesterday. 7 of my pieces sold at the Studio gallery yesterday. That means I’ve sold 9 pieces out of 13! I now have to bring them more. This is more fantastic than can be imagined. Because my pieces sell, it means the gallery will probably like me more and…

  • Evil nasty bad flu

Not much to report. I am the walking dead. Ok well that’s an exaggeration. I lost my voice last night but it came back today. I have a terrible sinus headache and I feel weak, but I think I’ll live.

  • Boy oh boy

I haven’t been sick in a while and let me tell you, it’s no picnic. I had a very painfully swollen throat last night that kept me up most of the night. I’ve been nursing alkaseltzer, ice water, and chicken soup. I’m feeling a little more human tonight but I have a ways to go.…

  • Successful Artist Reception

I am back from the reception at the Studio Gallery for my group show: Hot Wax. The turn out was great despite the icky, cold rain. Heather came, which was very special since we haven’t been speaking much, I think we’ve been on a friendship hiatus, maybe it’s time to start again. Earl and Susan…

  • Love your work

Tom sent me this very nice article about doing what you love for work. “Whichever route you take, expect a struggle. Finding work you love is very difficult. Most people fail. Even if you succeed, it’s rare to be free to work on what you want till your thirties or forties. But if you have…

  • Ukulele

I painted this for a themed show with ArtWorkSF. I am sick and I need to get in bed. See ya later. Tonight I heard that your brain burns a lot of calories, something I hadn’t considered before. So if I think really hard, I should burn some fat. This is a comforting idea although…

  • 5 classes? what was I thinking

So yeah, 5 classes in one semester is a lot. It’s doable, but just the task of managing assignments and getting readings done is going to be a challenge. Remember Alanna, art and articles are your only work this semester. You must get through this semester, it’s a big hump and the other side of…
