I got tons done this weekend and snuck in some leisure time to boot. I’ve been working on some 4″x6″ encaustics for the fall season and I got pretty far along with 5 of them. Plus lots more production of little canvases. The one you see here is for the Artspan Open Studios Exhibition at SomArts gallery.
We snuck away to Napa to see the Career Waitresses show at Copia. There was also an exhibit of Diner art and lo and behold, Anna L Conti had three pieces in it! That was a pleasant surprize. I heard about the show on Friday during the Alum slide talk at CCA. One of the alums was Candacy Taylor. She presented a talk about her work documenting career waitresses and I was very inspired. So we drove up to see it the next day. Great show. I really recommend checking our her work, it is really amazing. The show at Copia runs til September 11th. It was the first time we’d been to Copia. What a nice place. We got to see a little cooking show on pesto. They have wine tastings and snacks. The art exhibits are quite fun and the grounds are nice. The garden was fun to walk around.
Tomorrow is te first day of school but I actually have Tuuesdays off, so I have work all day tomorrow.
