On the way to Cole hardware today, we walked by a lemonade stand on Cole between Belvedere and Carl. The stand was run by three little girls around the age of eight. On the way back I stopped and got us a couple lemonades.
“Would you like to hear about our cause?”
“Sure!” I said.
“We are raising money to save unpopular animals that are becoming extinct. Everyone wants to save penguins but nobody wants to save vampire bats. People think they are dangerous, but they’re really not. So we’ve started an organization called SUA: Save unpopular animals so we can help save animals like vampire bats. We’re going to donate part of our money to an organization that we decide is doing a good job to save certain kinds of animals. Here is our brochure. You can read it but you can’t take it with you because we only have a couple copies.”
That kid is going to singlehandedly save the world, and I will buy all the lemonade she has to offer.
