It must be nearing the end of the semester because my studio is a total
mess. There are just three weeks of class left. Can you believe it? My
first semester at cca has been a great start. I’ve made so many drawings
and gotten my feet wet with textiles. The last few weeks will be spent
on a largish painting, many, many more abstract drawings, a fun little
drwaing and collage project on the golden ratio, a giant robot costume,
and one final color project.
After that, a one month break where I will hopefully get some work done
on the machines series and then spring semester.
I’ve been really happy with my choice to go to CCA. The teachers are
generally very passionate about their classes. Although my work is all
over the place right now, I feel like I am free to try anything and
everything… And isn’t that what school is for? I am most surprized at
just how much I love textiles, especially the more sculptural aspects
like basketry techniques. I think there is more of this in my future. I
don’t want to limit myself with 2 dimensional work and I love the
tactile qualities of textiles.
