Dam release river

My destination is at the end of a fast moving river. I have no boat to carry me. I must swim. I cling to a branch, afraid to let go. The longer I hold on, the more tired I become, and the more afraid I am of the river and of the unknown. The water level is lowering quickly. If I don’t let go now, I will miss my chance.

I let go and float down the river. I keep my feet forward and my head up, and I stop fighting it. I just take a deep breath and I accept whatever comes along. I can’t fear what I can’t change. I’ll just do my best, keep my head above water, and watch out for strainers.
