He’s mostly ok but tom was in a motorcycle accident today. He broke his arm. I was right behind him on my scooter so I had to watch the whole thing. A car was in the center lane blocking traffic so she could turn left across two lanes. We happened to be unluckily occupying the left lane. She turned left into our lane just as tom was about to cross the intersection and he slammed on his breaks. He tried to lay the bike down but couldn’t stop in time. He hit her car and his bike slid partly under her car. His head bounced off the front wheel. We had a fire truck and police on the scene in moments, that was kind of amazing how fast everyone was there. The strapped him up to a board and wheeled him off to General. His back is fine, he has a bad bang on his knee and a really nasty looking arm.
The woman started saying to me, “how could I have not seen him”. She was obviously very upset. I started to open my mouth about how stupid it is for people to endanger other lives just because they don’t want to drive an extra block and circle the block. but I stopped myself. I said I’m his girlfriend and I can’t talk to you. I feel bad that she hit a motorcycle, I know she must be very traumatized, but what she did was just absolutely stupid and she hurt my boyfriend. He’s going to need surgery. He’s in good spirits, and I have pizza on the way.
I feel so lucky that he’s mostly ok, and so upset and angry.
