This weekend has been packed with fun, a little too much fun. Friday after work I had some drinks with my coworkers before heading home kinda loopy. Friday night we walked over to Irving Street. We went to a japanese restaurant (Koo?) at 6th and Irving. Pretty good stuff, I guess. They had some exciting vegetarian options for me and Tom seemed to enjoy his fish. They have a billion kinds of cold sakes and our bill was about as cheap as sushi bills come. Next we walked over to the Mucky Duck where the popcorn is free and so are the flies for your drink. Nothing beats a vodka tonic with an ice encased fly. But really, I love the Mucky Duck, it’s just the most perfect neighborhood bar, good jukebox too. We drank too much and stumbled home.
Saturday we played house all day and scrubbed our apartment from top to bottom. Shannon and Jason came over for dinner and we went the whole nine yards. I made a lemon poppy seed bundt cake, Fresh sage Focaccia, and an heirloom tomato, basil and mozarella salad. Tom made a couple recipes from our Jack Bishop cookbook: spinach salad with a citrus dressing, figs and walnuts, and one of his favorites, penne with ricotta, mint, and basil. We toasted champagne to Shannon’s finishing a UC Berkeley, and to my starting CCA. We ate and talked and laughed, it was a wonderful night. We really do need to entertain more often.
Today we are both beat up. Two days worth of hangover compressed into one. Tom’s back hates him and my stomach hates me. We’re staying home working on our respective projects. I finally made a few updates to My book’s website. I’ve got some wireframes to work on, and I thought I’d play with Apple iLife. I’m couch-bound. All the pain was worth it.
