I teased you with talk about bob ross, dr seuss and william kentridge and then never said another word. I did some experiments with oils on a panel and my video camera. Stop motion painting. It was fun and I might try it some more. Not sure oil is the right medium, it just gets muddy after a while and although that offered new opportunities and experiments with scratching and whatnot, it didn’t have the visual punch I wanted. I have plans to install a 36 x 48 chalkboard in the studio so that just might end up being the perfect medium to try some more experiments. Now that I’ve got a list of shows to paint for with this artworksf thing, who knows where my attentions will be drawn to.
It’s a strange thing, this showing art in public thing. I feel energized already. Just last week I had decided that painting was dead and that I should just throw out all my paintings and give up. Now that I have a show coming, I want to paint more and more and more. Pirates and squids and sea monsters and treasure maps. and ukuleles and cups and chairs and lamps. So many things to paint. I hope a least a few of my paintings can find nice homes this year. I hear my canvases talking amongst themselves when they think I’m not listening. They are tired of sitting on the racks. They want fresh air and new faces to look at.
